We will explore the words sequencing, as well as first, next, then, last and beginning, middle and end. Everything will be pumpkin themed this week, including our text: Pumpkin, Pumpkin.
In phonics we will be learning about the first sounds in words and how to listen for the different sounds. This concept will be integrated into writing, where students will continue to label objects or pictures by stretching out the sounds they hear in the words and writing the matching letter. This is inventive spelling and should be a misspelling. Although this seems wrong, it is very developmental for this age. Sight Words: like, to, if, he Math: the students will be comparing numbers 0-5, discussing more and less than and reading and writing 6-10. Please remember to have your child practice counting to 25 or higher if then can. Science: Science is integrated into all other subjects this week. We will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin.
